The announcement of the national team for the 5-match T20 series against New Zealand has been delayed.

According to media reports, the selectors will hold a meeting on Sunday to discuss potential players, after which the national team squad against the Kiwis is likely to be announced on or after April 8.

The national team squad was supposed to be announced on Saturday, but now it has been delayed.

The selectors have already returned to Lahore after discussing the prospects of the series with captain Babar Azam in Kakul, where the national squad was participating in a fitness camp under the supervision of the Pakistan Army.

Among the players under consideration for the five-match series are captain Babar Azam, Saeem Ayub, Muhammad Rizwan, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Shadab Khan, Usama Mir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Imad Wasim, Muhammad Amir, Zaman Khan, Usman Khan, Wasim Jr, Irfan Niazi and Abbas Afridi are included while Fakhar Zaman's hand injury is being evaluated.

Fast bowler Haris Rauf, who suffered a shoulder injury during the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, is not fully fit and will continue the rehabilitation process.

On the other hand, there are reports that fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi may be rested in the series against New Zealand under workload management.
